Ela Motors Boosts Support for Salvation Army’s Adult Literacy Program

On Friday, August 23rd, the Salvation Army received a generous donation of K39, 745.50 from Ela Motors in Port Moresby.

This contribution will significantly support their Adult Literacy Program, which aims to provide a second chance for individuals with low or no literacy skills to receive quality education.

Ela Motors’ CEO, Masaru Mikami presented the donation and reiterated on the company’s commitment to the Salvation Army’s mission.

Mr. Mikami praised the Adult Literacy Program for its success in enhancing literacy and numeracy skills among adults and expressed Ela Motors’ pride in their long-standing association with the Salvation Army. Over the past eight years, Ela Motors has supported the organization through various means, including fundraising dinners, charity golf tournaments, and donations such as Yamaha Generators for auctions. The Salvation Army’s has been dedicated in providing essential Health Services, Settlement Ministries, and Education in Papua New Guinea.

Since the launch in 2022, it has achieved remarkable results, with learners from Morota, Hohola, Kaugere, and Koki completing the program, most of them being women who had left school early.

Lt. Colonel Suzanne Stevenson, the Salvation Army Assistant Chief Secretary, expressed heartfelt thanks to Ela Motors for their generous support and ongoing engagement. She emphasized the importance of such partnerships in advancing their mission and looked forward to further collaboration to continue making a positive impact in the community.
